Song of Myself

Greetings to all of you. You're doing such a great job this year, and I know that you have enjoyed reading Walt Whitman as much as you've enjoyed reading last year's postings of original poems patterned after "Song of Myself."

It's now your turn to post your Song of Myself. Please study the original text before you write. Each stanza should start with "I celebrate___," and include poetic twists such as repetition, alliteration, metaphors, and terrific sentence patterns.

Only those posts that are suitable for publication will be posted, so work carefully in Microsoft Word first, please. Save a copy of your work. Then copy and paste it to the blog comments.

What do you celebrate? Whitman celebrated individualism, hope, life. I celebrate you (plus many other important folk, like my three grandsons and family... I celebrate Lake Jordan in the springtime...)
