Reading Response: Brave New World 3
Look up the term eugenics. Next, explain how Brave New World is a morality statement either for or against eugenics (you decide). Explain.
Brave New World is a morality statement against eugenics because it shows a society that is always happy but sacrifices love and freedom to obtain this happinies. Some people might argue that this is an acceptable trade. I don't think this is a good trade because if we give up love, compassion, and our free will then we will give up everything that makes us human. Jonathan Mummey 7th Blog report
Brave New World is a morality statement against eugenics, or the direction of human evolution. Eugenics reached its peak in the early decades of the 20th century, but by the end of WWII it was abandoned. This was the abandoning of the idea of eguenics, that i think led to the writing of Brave New World. Evolution can't take place if the hatchery is making people the same and putting them into a caste system that won't change. Also the people that are born in the hatcery have fixed emotions so they have very small room to change.
