We're off to a great year. What an inspiring, spirited group of young people you are!
Welcome, too, to our class blog. On this blog, you'll respond to questions (in an essay format, please), and if your writing is deemed worthy of posting, you will receive a grade for your blog post.
Keep in mind that this is a formal blog. Therefore, slang and shortcuts you might use on e-mail, Twitter, Facebook, etc., are inappropriate.
When you respond to a post, do not begin with "yes" or "I think that." Write a topic sentence. Stick to your point. Keep it brief, but do be thorough.
It's important that you learn how to post discussion question responses on the Internet, because your college future will include many online courses that require Internet usage and public forums. The key word here is public -- remember that you represent your school, your parents, yoru class, your community, your teachers -- and most of all, yourselves -- for all the world to hear.
That said, I know you'll do your best. Invest your time wisely in preparing your responses. I look forward to hearing what you have to say.
