Welcome to the Tomahawk, the official "blog" of tenth grade honors' English students at Wetumpka High School.
Before we begin our journey, we need to take the time to thank Mrs. Monica Tindol, our WHS media/technology specialist. She has worked tirelessly to set up this blog for us. Thank you, Mrs. Tindol. You should also note that while everyone can view what you write, only students in tenth-grade Advanced English at WHS will be allowed to post to the blog.
Since this is the very first official blog for students at our school, we will no doubt learn as we go, but as we start the process, let me review a few of my expectations of each of you.
First, remember that this blog will be used for responding to discussion questions that you might have in class, so what you write you should consider to be spoken in class. In other words, the class rules stand. When you are on this blog, you are at school, so anything you "say" (write) should be appropriate.
Second, you should know that in order for your post to be reviewed by the "class" (all tenth grade honors' students), I will first have to approve what you write. Pictures will not be allowed. Since this is an English class, you should pay close attention to how you respond. Spelling matters. Avoid e-mail/texting lingo, and be sure to punctuate your clear, complete sentences. This is a formal website! Don't click on "post" until you have thoroughly reflected upon your responses and checked your spelling/grammar.
Consider the blog an online journal. You'll be asked to reflect upon what we read, write, and discuss in class. You'll be able to respond to others in your class of about 93 students, and it is my hope that the process will allow you to grow in ways that make all of us (including you yourself, your parents, your teachers, and your school) proud.
Happy blogging!
Susan Shehane
